I think if you ask any of my friends they would admit I can, at times, be a bit boy crazy. If you are a frequent reader of this particular column, you can probably draw the same conclusion. Yes, I admit, I can be boy crazy, but I must say I think it has to do with the fact that most boys are simply crazy! Can I get an Amen?
Let’s take for instance the most recent crazy boy to enter my life. It all started one Saturday evening in early January on my way back from Williamsburg. I hopped on the L train and made my way to Union Square, transferring to an N and heading home to Astoria. While I was walking on the platform at 14th street, I spotted out of the corner of my eye a handsome fella also waiting for the same train. Read more »

I was wrapping up my trip to Salt Lake City when I received a text message from Shouldbee. He wished to set up a date upon my return to the Big Apple, which seemed fine. A few days away gave me a clear perspective that I think going forward, we’d probably make better friends. Honestly though, I didn’t want to tell him this in a text message, so I told him to give me a day and let me check my schedule to see when lunch would work best.
I arrived back to New York on a Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon I received a text asking if I had a better idea of what my schedule looked like. I suggested Friday lunch, but didn’t know where yet, but we agreed that 3pm worked best for both of us. Then, in a 24 hour period the following happened… Read more »

Katy Perry
“Greetings loved ones, let’s take a journey,” Snoop Dogg says as he introduces Katy Perry’s summer anthem California Gurls. Well, having spent the past several weeks on the west coast, I can certainly attest that California Gurls are indeed hot enough to melt your popsicle… I was fortunate enough to be hanging out in Los Angeles during their Pride Celebration, and it was by far the most interesting pride experience I’ve ever had.

A few years ago one of my best friends started dating this guy she met at a work conference. For them, it was basically love at first sight, they emailed and talked on the phone all the time it seemed. I mean, that was the only way they could communicate because while she lived in New York, he lived all the way on the West Coast. Every so often she would fly cross country and he would do the same until a year and a half after they met, my best friend packed up her NYC life and moved out there to be with him. I learned a lot about long distance relationships from watching their relationship grow. Last weekend I met a cutie online and after a really nice chat I decided following work on Monday, it would be a good idea to meet him in person. Read more »

All of this marriage equality talk really has increased my appetite… my sexual appetite that is. It has been a while since I’ve obsessed over a guy and I think I learned a lot from the Hot Bartender days. I’ve moved on (well, out loud I say it, but deep down, I really do want to still see if Hot Bartender and I have a shot) and recently, six months after declaring my New Year’s Resolution to date more, I finally went on my first official date… with Mr. Producer. Cute, funny and above all, nice are three words I would immediately use to describe him. While on the surface these three words are wonderful adjectives to describe another human being, sadly, they are only words and if the physical appearance does not go above and beyond these modifiers, I’m unfortunately forced to say, “let’s just be friends.”

After months of crushing big time on Hot Bartender the moment of truth finally arrived when we met up for our coffee rendezvous. Though this wasn’t your typical java get together, seeing as neither of us had any coffee. In fact the only coffee related thing that was involved in this “date” was our initial meeting place: Starbucks.

I’m curious to know if you have ever found yourself saying, “He’s just a bad addiction I just can’t kick.” Maybe I should quote Brokeback Mountain, “I wish I knew how to quit you.” By now I’m sure you’re wondering who the heck I’m speaking of… Well, out of all the prospects, missed connections and one-night stands there is still only one who I simply can’t quit.

Dear Hans,
My girlfriend and I both just lost our jobs. We weren’t necessarily jetsetters before, but we’d still like to be able to afford to go out in NYC this summer, especially with the great weather right now. Any tips?

With the temperature rising in the Big Apple, I like to think that it also leads to most people’s attractiveness rising as well. I left my office last Friday to go for an afternoon stroll and to see everyone looking fierce and cute in the neighborhood was simply delightful. It was a welcome change from the bundled up messes that most people become during the bitter winter months.
Friday night I decided to head out and meet up with some friends in lower Manhattan. I hardly ever venture down in that area anymore so it was good to revisit some of old stomping grounds. On my way, looking fabulous in a blazer, striped shirt, jeans and flip flops, I noticed a guy standing on the platform waiting for the subway. We immediately caught each others gaze and he entered the car I was standing in. He took a seat across the way from me and stared a little more than normal at me. We would catch each others glances every so often and, to be blunt, was kind of arousing.

Dear Hans,
I’ve been dating this girl for about 8 months. I’m 28. It’s about time I look for someone to settle down with and have been thinking she’s the one. This weekend we had some friends over and played Trivial Pursuit. Everything was going great until she had no idea who LBJ was. I don’t need the woman who raises my children to be a genius, but I do have certain expectations of what she should know. Frankly, I was shocked. Do I need to get over myself and just follow my heart? Or should I let little bits of trivia dictate my happiness for years to come?
