Gay Life – The Paulinator: Live Out Proud!
Dance on the Pier @ Pier 54
Dictionary.com‘s fourth definition of “Pride” states: pleasure or satisfaction taken in something done by or belonging to oneself or believed to reflect credit upon oneself. That is precisely how I feel. After the horrific text message incident to my mom, I realized I’m finally comfortable enough with myself to admit openly and proudly that I am a gay man. This has been such an incredible journey and I am so thankful that I reached this part of my life when Marriage Equality is such a hot topic as well as during the 40th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. As per usual, anytime something this momentous happens in my life, I like to celebrate and go all out! Well, I didn’t have to look very far because this month is simply jammed packed with events of all shapes and sizes!
First, I’ve recommended to my fellow Bee, Karen, who writes the Theatre Buzz column, to check out The Temperamentals, starring Ugly Betty‘s Michael Urie (Marc). The show takes place in the 1950′s and focuses on events that happened before the Stonewall Riots and very well could have been the precursory spark of the gay rights civil movement. It’s a must see, plus it was just extended until August!
Unfortunately, I was unable to make The Gay Amazing Race put together by Pogo Events & TheMenEvent.net but I have heard nothing but great things and it is definitely on my radar for next year! Speaking of TheMenEvent.net if you have a chance, check out some of their upcoming events because I’ve started to attend a few and it is a great way to meet people and network. Some of their upcoming events include a Social Networking Event at Planet Hollywood on June 25th, Boys Nights at various shows and a Yatcht cruise.
The amount of fun that can be had during Pride is simply overwhelming and while I wish I could sit and list all that is happening, I can’t because I don’t know all that is going on. However, I do get invites to different things in my email on a daily basis for Pride festivities so here are a couple of tips for things I think are worth checking out:
- Pride Porno Bingo: Pieces Bar, 8 Christopher Street (Wednesday June 24)

- First Annual Pride Bar Tour (June 27, $10)

- LoveBall: The Official Kick off to Gay Pride @ the Nokia Theater in Times Square (Saturday, June 27)

- The March: 5th Avenue & 52nd St. to Christopher & Greenwich St. (Sunday, June 28)

- Dance on the Pier: Pier 54, 13th St @ the West Side Highway (Sunday, June 28)

So, hopefully you will be able to make a few of these fabulous events and have a great time! I know I am truly looking forward to having myself one heck of a Pride experience! I think I can say this too because I’ve completely moved on passed Hot Bartender and have done it the old fashion way: putting him on my ‘limited Facebook profile’ list and finding other guys to pass the time. Looking back I think Hot Bartender taught me a lot about myself and how I need to start approaching my ‘someday-existent’ love life. I think the best way to get what you want is to be proactive because I don’t know how being passive will get me what I want in the long run. So, I think that is why I am hoping to have future stories surrounding my new guys Mr. Producer and and even more about his friend, EZontheEyes. Get ready everyone, The Paulinator is going to Love Out Loud and Live Out Proud! Happy Pride Everyone!!
