I think it must be something to do with the natural opiates that are released when working out, but when doing cardio., I often have these insights that have something to do with molecular biology, physics and human nature. Hope you enjoy them.

DIA Art Foundation presents “Tuesdays on the Terrace,” a series of outdoor events at the Hispanic Society of America‘s Audubon Terrace
If you visit tonight at 7pm, you can experience, “The Collection of Silence,” a project by Eileen Myles.
The Collection of Silence, a baroque site-specific work around the possibilities of silence as central to the syntax and punctuation of everyday life. A diverse group of poets will present short pieces at various locations on the outdoor plaza of Audubon Terrace, where they will be joined by a group of students from PS4. Also accompanied by dancers, Buddhists, an opera singer, and a life drawing class, this mute and active gathering will demonstrate and celebrate the collective power of silence and the capacity of an unvoiced poem to serve the communal purposes of public life. Participants include poets Charles Bernstein, Stephanie Gray, Tim Liu, Monica De la Torre, and Rachel Zolf, Christine Hou, and Julie Patton, dancer-choreographer Christine Elmo, The Village Zendo, and soprano Juliana Snapper. The silent texts will be available in a bilingual edition at the performance.

Okay, okay. I know what you are thinking. Harper’s Island is a TV show that looks like utter crap and is on air currently, how can it be written up under Friday Night In? Well, hold on to your breeches and hear me out.
Harper’s Island is CBS’s new endeavor to bring slasher films into the world of cheesy pop culture television. And in doing
so CBS has brought back meaning to the words Guilty Pleasure. The show surrounds a group of family and friends who head to a destination wedding off the coast of Seattle. The official website describes the show in their own words as “although they’ve come to laugh and to love, what they don’t know is they’ve also come…to die.” Bloody brilliant. Literally.

Aside from the fashion, food, music, and comedy blogs I follow; I also read personal finance blogs. Frugal Zeitgeist paid off her mortgage for her NYC apartment in SIX years and inspires me to live within my means (my collection of shoes and bags will attest otherwise). She shares some tips and some favorite eats around the city.

Hello, Bon Jour, Buenos Dias!
G’day, Guten-Tag, Konichiwa…..
Ciao, Shalom, Do-Brey Dien,
Hello To All The Children Of The World!
We Live In Different Places From All Around The World.
We Speak In Many Different Ways!
Though Some Things May Be Different,
We’re Children Just The Same-
And We All Like To Sing And Play!”
This is the song that my four-year-old son sang at his end-of-year concert (and keeps singing, and singing, and singing) and I think it sums up my intent for this blog so nicely. Being a parent, anywhere in the world, whether in the US, Israel, or Spain, has similar challenges and rewards–these are the types of issues I’d like to address here as I come on board neighborbee. As the Resident Parent I plan to review the latest products (good and evil, but definitely BPA-free) and children-friendly events. Please let me know if there is a subject that you would like me to address; if I think I’m not qualified to give the answer, I will introduce a guest blogger to help me out. I look forward to hearing from you all!

Osso Buco, Downtown
I was hoping to find a nice place last Wednesday to go to with my mom over in the Union Square/NYU area. We settled on Osso Bucco, an Italian restaurant just South of Union Square. It was bright and though it was definitely not dead, we could tell we would have no problem being seated. Always a plus. Read more »

“We’re going to get so much pussy tonight, you guys!”
The hilarious blog, Look At This Fucking Hipster, just scored a book deal with St. Martin’s Press. The blog, once anonymously penned, is the brainchild of Joe Mande, a comedian/writer, who occasionally appears on the Best Week Ever, and has a show at Upright Citizens Brigade, and features pictures of the hipster set with sarcastic captions, mocking those lucky enough to be captured on film. Mande started the blog according to an earlier Gawker interview, to help his dad figure out what the hell a hipster was.

When it comes of the culture of queer and all it means, many minds jump to the streets of San Fran, New York City, and (something new I’ve learned from the message boards) Austin, TX.
But somewhere between the extremity of those borders is a Northwestern gem that The Demcembrists, Powell’s Books, and some damn fine microbreweries call home: Stumptown, P-Town, or simply Portland, OR.
Another fine product that Portland might add to the list is Portland Queer: Tales of the Rose City.
